2011 Nobel Prize for Literature

This year a Swedish poet won the prize. His name is Tomas Transtomer. The Swedish Academy said, "through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality.

Here's a glimpse at his poetry:

The first line from the poem, "The Couple:"
They turn the light off, and its white globe glows 
an instant and then dissolves, like a tablet
in a glass of darkness.

The first few sentences from another:
Awakening is a parachute jump from the dream.
Freed from the choking vortex, the diver
sinks towards the green map of morning. 
Things magnify. He sees, from the fluttering lark's 
position, huge tree-root systems 
like branchings of subterranean chandeliers.
